Veteran pop-folk songwriter Livingston Taylor would, just ONCE, enjoy reading a story or best bet about his albums or an upcoming show without the writer feeling the need to include something like, "Livingston is of course the brother of multi-Grammy winner James Taylor, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Kennedy Center and Presidential Medal of Freedom honoree and one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century ..."

I'd say at this point that I will honor Livingston — who has a perfectly acceptable personal catalog of albums and songs — by not referencing JT in this space. Except I already did.

What I WILL promise, though, is that the next time James Taylor comes through for any reason — presumably picking up a trophy or honorary doctorate or selling out the Mohegan Sun Arena 17 nights in a row — I'll preview the event by including the following phrase:

"James Taylor, who is of course the brother of Livingston Taylor, a marvelous talent whose personal catalog of albums and songs would probably be a lot better known if he'd been an only child, will ..."
