If you live in New London and you’re sitting at home Thursday, well, GET UP AND LEAVE!

There’s too much going on in your town to sit on the couch and watch the Sox lose again.

We’re talking about Eat in the Street, a very cool monthly celebration of the Whaling City. What happens is, on the first Thursday of each month, Bank Street is shut down along the strip from Tilley to State Street and, under the coordination of the Downtown New London Association, all manners of food, art, music and fireworks hold dominion over all.

In addition to specials from local restaurants, expect culinary greatness from CT Cultured Oysters, El Punto Del Sabor, Tony D’s Ice Cream, Dude Donuts, Roadside Grill and Issa Catering. Outside dining is plentiful — all decorated in thematic unity.

Strolling and stationary music will be provided by the New London Firefighters Pipes and Drums, the New London Big Band and singer-songwriter Casey Flax — with the Hoolios headlining in the Hygienic Art Park as part of the Downtown Live! series. Also appearing are The CarLeans.

What’s that? You’re STILL sitting on your couch? You are ZERO fun.
