Even if you only count the true biggies — "White Christmas," "The First Noel," "Joy to the World," "Frosty the Snowman," et cetera — there are probably more holiday carols and tunes than John von Neumann and Kurt Gödel, each fueled by candy canes and meth-strength hot cocoa, could calculate in a month's time.

So there's really no way to know which melodies you'll hear and croon at 3 p.m. Sunday when the 71st annual Community Carol Sing takes place on Mystic Seaport's McGraw Gallery Quadrangle. As always, Jamie Spillane, associate professor of music and director of choral studies at the University of Connecticut, will conduct the proceedings, and the Mystic Seaport Carolers and a brass quartet will also take part. Along with YOU, of course.

By the way, it's well worth your time to show up at 2 p.m. when the Seaport Carolers present a holiday concert in the Seaport's Greenmanville Church.

Community Carol Sing, 3 p.m. Sunday, the McGraw Gallery Quadrangle, Mystic Seaport, Route 27; free admission to museum visitors all day (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) with donation of a non-perishable canned good item; regular admission is $28.95 adults, $26.95 for ages 65 and up and for college students with ID, $18.95 ages 4-14, free for kids 3 and under; (860) 572-0711, mysticseaport.org.
