Adam Lambert brings solo concert to Foxwoods
Adam Lambert has spent a good part of his time recently touring as lead singer of Queen. It’s a second career for him that makes perfect sense; he’s the only person out there right now who can (almost) fill the late Freddie Mercury’s shoes. His voice can hit sky-high notes, he has a theatrical way with music and presentation, and he owns the stage when he’s on it.
Lambert also has quite a solo career going as well. His latest EP is “Velvet Side A.” It sounds as though it should be played in a club where everyone is jamming the dance floor, although one tune, the spare ballad “Closer to You,” lets Lambert really show off his greatest asset, that voice.
On a recent episode of “The Talk,” co-host Sheryl Underwood asked him about the difference between touring with Queen and solo. He said that, with his solo tours, “It’s my stories. It’s my music that I created. It’s my baby.”
Hear those stories when he performs a solo concert Sunday at Foxwoods.
Adam Lambert, 7 p.m. Sunday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $60-$85; 1-800-200-2882.
