Tourism district names officers
Tim Ford, the chairman of the Eastern Regional Tourism District, will continue in that role for 2010-11.
The district selected officers last week, including Ford, who is a Putnam selectman. Others include John Markowicz of seCTer, who will retain his position as vice chairman; Merrielee Beetham-Turley, former general manager of Hyatt Place in Montville, as treasurer; and Donna Simpson, the district's former executive director, as secretary.
Tony Pero of New London, who was involved in creating the state's tourism districts and has served on the board since it's inception in 1983, was named the board's first honorary designation as member emeritus.
