UConn's Enosch Wolf suspended from team after arrest

UConn center Enosch Wolf (1) looks to pass against Providence forward LaDontae Henton, right, during a men's basketball game on Jan. 31 in Providence. Wolf was suspended from the Huskies indefinitely after being arrested Monday morning in an alleged domestic dispute which took place on campus.

UConn junior Enosch Wolf has been suspended from the men's basketball team indefinitely following his arrest after an on-campus domestic dispute early Monday morning.

Wolf, a 7-foot-1, 240-pound reserve center, was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He was freed on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Wednesday.

The incident took place in the LaFlesche building at the Hilltop Apartments.

Wolf was involved in a physical altercation with a female resident of the building, according to the UConn police department report, and he refused to leave the apartment when asked. He grabbed the hair of the victim, pushed her head and also knocked off her glasses with his hand, police said.

Wolf, a 22-year-old from Goettingen, Germany, was arrested at 5:55 a.m. The Daily Campus, UConn's student newspaper, first reported the story.

The length of the Wolf's suspension will be determined pending the completion of the legal process and a university review process, according to UConn.

"We are aware of the situation concerning Enosch and we are taking the matter very seriously," coach Kevin Ollie said in a released statement. "He has been suspended from the team indefinitely, until the legal and university process is finalized.

"I have spoken to the players on the team previously and will continue to speak with them about their conduct both on and off the basketball court. We have high expectations of our student-athletes at UConn and I expect my players to live up to those standards."

UConn returned to campus Sunday after beating Seton Hall 78-67 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Wolf came off the bench and played 11 minutes, finishing with two points, four rebounds and a block.

Wolf is averaging 3.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 13.7 minutes while appearing in all 22 games, starting three.

The loss of Wolf cuts into the depth of UConn's already thin frontcourt. The absence of Wolf likely means more minutes for freshman Phil Nolan, a 6-9 forward. Nolan has seen limited action in 15 games, averaging just 1.1 points and 1.3 rebounds. He's yet to score in a Big East game.

UConn hosts No. 6 Syracuse on Wednesday at the XL Center in Hartford. The Huskies, who are 16-6 overall, 6-4 in the Big East Conference, have eight games remaining and are ineligible for the postseason.
