Mohegan Sun launching online gambling site in New Jersey

Mohegan Sun is jumping into the online gambling fray in New Jersey.

The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, the Mohegan Sun owner that manages Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, is introducing a real-money online gambling site, MoheganSunCasino.com, for New Jersey-based gamblers.

The authority also announced Wednesday it has partnered with Scientific Games to build a social casino platform, Play4Fun Network, that will provide free-play access to games already available on the casino floor.

"Our goal is for MoheganSunCasino.com to become the premier online destination for both serious gamers and those who simply want to relax and have fun,” Bobby Soper, the MTGA’s president, said in a statement. “With the launch of MoheganSunCasino.com and the Play4Fun Network, the MTGA proves to be a leading force within the online gaming space."

MoheganSunCasino.com is the second site to make use of Resorts’ online gaming permit. Resorts launched a self-branded site in February that had won more than $1.1 million from gamblers through the end of June.

Five Atlantic City casinos won $11.7 million in online gaming in June, a 22.8 percent increase over their win the previous June.

The Mohegan Sun site, which was being tested Wednesday, is subject to approval by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
