Groton Town police name suspect in high-end wine theft

Groton — Town police said on Thursday that they have identified the man who allegedly took a valuable bottle of wine from Octagon Restaurant on Monday and have a warrant for his arrest.

Police said the man — who they said is Scott M. Deluca, 25, of New York — is suspected of committing similar crimes in "several towns in New Jersey and New York."

According to police, restaurant staff realized a bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus wine was missing shortly after the man was seen leaving the part of the restaurant where it was stored.

The 1990 Chateau Petrus is a wine that was priced at $4,799 on wine.com before it sold out.

Photos and a video of the man can be seen at the Town of Groton Police Department Facebook page.

The restaurant is located within the Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa at 625 North Road, otherwise known as Route 117.

Police thanked the public for its help and are asking anyone with information regarding Deluca's whereabouts to call them at (860) 441-6712 or to click on the "contact us" button on the department's Facebook page.
