Folk singer Peter Yarrow appears Friday at UConn Avery Point
For Peter Yarrow — long famous as a member of Peter, Paul & Mary and as a solo artist — music and activism are not separable. Along with iconic songs that defined a generation — "Leaving On a Jet Plane," "Puff, the Magic Dragon," "Day is Done," "Light One Candle" and "The Great Mandala" — Yarrow has devoted his life to causes such as civil rights, gender equality, the environment (and, of particular current note, activities at the North Dakota Pipeline), homelessness, hospice care, and education.
On Friday, Yarrow appears at the University of Connecticut Avery Point Auditorium in Groton. "An Evening of Song and Conversation with Peter Yarrow" is a fundraiser for the Custom House Maritime Museum in New London, and Michael Hough and David Tamulevich of Mustard's Retreat will appear in support. There will also be a pre-concert wine and cheese reception with Yarrow. Tickets will not be sold at the door and are available from brownpapertickets.com.
For Yarrow's interview with The Day, see Friday's Daybreak section.
