Police: Man stabbed during drug transaction in Stonington

Stonington — Police say they have charged two men in connection with the stabbing of another man during a drug deal on Saturday.

The victim, whose name was not released, later was treated and released at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for a severe laceration to his upper arm.

Alec M. Seekins, 21, of 207 Whitehall Ave., Apt. 3, Mystic, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and breach of peace, while Timothy S. O’Reilly, 28, of 32 Tower St., Apt. 1, Westerly, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. Seekins was held on a $50,000 bond and appeared in New London Superior Court on Tuesday, while O’Reilly was released on a $25,000 bond and is slated to appear in court Jan. 3, 2018.

According to police, they responded to a call at 12:04 a.m. Saturday reporting a man suffering from a stab wound to his arm at Fair Acres Circle. When police arrived, they discovered the stabbing actually had occurred in the area of 207 Whitehall Ave., where Seekins lives.

Police said the man who was stabbed and his girlfriend had gone to that address to buy narcotics from Seekins but they said Seekins stole money from the man’s girlfriend. An altercation ensued, in which police say O’Reilly began punching the man in the head. Police said the man also noticed during the assault that Seekins had a knife. After the fight was over, Seekins and O’Reilly ran off. As the man and his girlfriend were leaving, the man said, he realized he was bleeding from his arm.
