Montville police make arrest in summer car theft case

Montville — With the help of Hartford police, town officers on Friday arrested a 25-year-old man accused of stealing a vehicle July 26.

Police said Hartford resident Christofer Cruz-Morales also entered the home of the person from whom he stole the vehicle.

Police charged Cruz-Morales with first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny, credit card theft and illegal use of a credit card. Held on a $50,000 bond, he was due Friday in Norwich Superior Court.

Police previously said four cars were burglarized and two others were stolen July 26, including one belonging to former Emergency Management Director Ray Occhialini.

Police said Occhialini’s black 2018 Hyundai Tucson was stolen from Andersen Lane and later found in Hartford.
