Oh, Kelly Clarkson, please say you’ll do your cover of “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born” when you play Mohegan Sun Arena this week!

On her current tour, she’s been doing some covers, but her version of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Oscar-winning power ballad has garnered the most attention, with everyone fangirling and fanboying over Clarkson’s mighty singing.

With or without “Shallow,” Clarkson is coming to the Sun for two nights, and they are bound to be killer concerts. Her most recent album is the Grammy-nominated “Meaning of Life,” which gives a modern twist to an old-school R&B sound.

Clarkson has always been a superstar in the music world, but she’s recently expanded her reach.

She is a judge now on “The Voice,” where her effervescent personality and sheer likeability have made her a crowd favorite.

And she has a talk show coming up (she has said that the toughest part will be not doing all the talking herself).

“Voice” devotees, take note: the opening acts for the Mohegan Sun shows are Maggie Rose and Brynn Cartelli, the latter the singer coached by Clarkson who won the 14th season of the singing competition. Good on Clarkson for bringing her young protegee out on tour.

Kelly Clarkson, 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Mohegan Sun Arena; also, Brynn Cartelli and Maggie Rose; $39-$99; 1-800-745-3000,

New Kids on the Block lead a jam-packed lineup at Mohegan Sun

Now, this is quite an embarrassment of late-1980s/early-1990s musical riches. The New Kids on the Block are returning to Mohegan Sun Arena for a concert on July 3 (a great pre-holiday night, right?). And that alone would be enough, because they are pretty great in concert. But...
