    H.S. track and field: East Lyme boys topple Fitch 92-58

    East Lyme — Akhil Chilamkurthi and Sam Whittaker won three events each for the East Lyme High School boys' track team Wednesday in a 92-58 victory over Fitch in what was the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I opener for East Lyme.

    Chilamkurthi took the 110-meter hurdles (17.3 seconds), 300 hurdles (42.7) and the pole vault (11-6) for the Vikings (2-0, 1-0) and Whittaker won the 800 (2:03.6), 1,600 (4:40) and 3,200 (10:33.3).

    Makaih Olawale also won the long jump and high jump for East Lyme and the Vikings swept the three relays.

    Chris Holmes (200), AJ Brown (triple jump), Josh Morton (shot put) and Tom Joyner (discus) won individual events for Fitch (2-1, 1-1).

    In other meets:

    • Jahiem Spruill won three events as Norwich Free Academy beat Woodstock in its ECC Division I opener. Spruill won the triple jump (43-04.5), long jump (19.05.25) and high jump (6-0). David Osagie won the 110 hurdles (15.1) and 300 hurdles (42.9) and Andrew Cote won the 400 (52.2) and 200 (23.7) for NFA (2-0).

    • Chris Smith, Aidan Pepin and Michael Vincent won two individual events each as Waterford defeated Griswold 103-46 on Tuesday. Smith won the 100 (10.8) and 200 (23.0) for the Lancers (1-1) while Pepin captured the 1,600 (4:51) and 3,200 (10:29), and Vincent won the 300 hurdles (43.7) and triple jump (41-4). Also for Waterford, Jared Lovell won the 110 hurdles (15.3), Sam Menders the long jump (18-8), Kayvon Negahban the high jump (5-8) and Marcus Lovell the javelin (117-11).

    Girls

    • NFA opened its season with a 97-53 win over Woodstock in an ECC Division I meet. Allyson Lewis of NFA won the high jump (5-4), 300 hurdles (51.7) and 200 (27.1). Kayla Park won the 400 (1:02) and 3,200 (12:59.83) for NFA.

    • Saige Deveau won the 100 and 200 and Gilly Goodwin the 800 and 1,600 for East Lyme in a 88-46 victory over Fitch in an ECC Division I meet. Janaya Burley won the long jump and the 100 hurdles for Fitch (2-1, 1-1). East Lyme is 2-0, 1-0.

    • Lauren Ross won three events as Montville defeated Windham 109-28 in an ECC Division III meet. Ross won the 100 hurdles (17.2), 300 hurdles (51.7) and long jump (16-0) for the Indians (2-0, 1-0), while Mady Whittaker added wins in the 1,600 (5:56) and 400 (1:06.1), Savanna Perkins captured the javelin (76-2) and discus (74-6) and Alana Chappelle won the high jump (4-6).

    • Catherine Saucer won two individual events and joined Sarah Johnson, Tallah Ryan and Alicia Sanders to win the 4x800 relay (11:40) as Waterford defeated Griswold 97-57 on Tuesday. Saucier won the 1,600 (6:28) and 3,200 (14:00) for the Lancers (1-1), while Lillie Abramowicz won the 200 (25.4) and javelin (83-11). Waterford also picked up wins from Johnson in the 800 (2:57), Ellie Lokken in the high jump (4-8), Julia Karlberg in the triple jump (28-11), Jessica Nadeau in the shot put (25-9) and Jenny Keth in the pole vault (7-6).
