Norwich taxpayers can pay tax bills at People's Bank branches in city

Norwich — For the second consecutive year, city taxpayers can pay their property tax bills in person at any of the three People’s United Bank branches in the city, as well as through the mail, online or at City Hall.

Norwich residents can pay property taxes at the bank branches at 624 West Main St., 42 Town St. inside the Stop & Shop supermarket or at 45 Town St., across from Norwichtown Commons shopping plaza.

During the month of July, taxpayers can present their current real estate, personal property and motor vehicle bills at the bank branches and pay by cash or check. Delinquent taxes will not be accepted at bank locations and must be paid at the City Hall tax office on the ground floor at 100 Broadway.

Taxpayers do not need to be People’s United Bank customers to make their payments at a branch location.

The city also offers online tax bill payments at www.norwichct.org/taxes; mailed payments to Norwich Tax Collector, 100 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360; and in person payments during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Any payment made after Aug. 1 will accrue interest at the rate of 1.5 percent, 18 percent per year, or $2.00, whichever is greater.

For more information, contact the city tax office at (860) 823-3760.
