New London — Noah Baldez had 22 points and Justin Kane scored 21 as the Coast Guard men's basketball team closed out its regular season with a 102-99 win over Emerson on Saturday, earning the Bears a spot in the New England Women's and Men's Basketball Conference tournament and a rematch with Emerson.

The Bears (11-13, 6-8) will be the fifth seed and play at No. 4 Emerson in Wednesday's first round, Coast Guard's first NEWMAC tournament appearance since 2011. Emerson beat Coast Guard in the NEWMAC opener on Jan. 8, 94-75. Packy Witkowski scored 16, Garrett Drummond had 14 points, Jason Frazer scored 11 and Kane had nine rebounds.

In other games:

• Mitchell College closed out its regular season with a 73-58 win over Eastern Nazarene in a New England Collegiate Conference game. Mitchell (11-14) and Eastern Nazarene (13-12) tied for second in the league at 8-4, but Mitchell won the tiebreaker and will be the No. 2 seed and received a first-round bye. Leonard Williams came off the bench for 23 points and Hasani Williams had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Mitchell. 

Women's basketball

• Former Waterford standout Rebekah Sanders scored 20 points and had 25 rebounds as No. 13 Avery Point beat Springfield Tech 88-62. The Pointers (17-8) have won five straight. Abby Stone of Old Lyme had 24 points, seven assists and six rebounds, Julitza Delgado scored 14 and Preston's Carsen Keith had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Pointers. 

• Emily Bonifacic had 15 points and 15 rebounds as Babson ended Coast Guard's season with a 79-66 victory over the Bears in the NEWMAC. East Lyme's Megan Bauman added 11 for the Beavers (18-7, 10-0) while Jacqueline Ward had 14 points for Coast Guard (15-10, 4-6), Kyra Hartman had 12 points and 15 rebounds and Annabella Farabaugh had 11 points.

• Mitchell ended the regular season with a 72-62 loss to New England College in a NECC game. The Mariners (15-10, 10-4) are the No. 3 seed in the NECC tournament and will host No. 6 Elms  in a first-round game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Amina Wiley had 22 points, 13 rebounds and five steals and Kelsey Hernandez and Bozrah's Leilani McClellan scored 11 points each for Mitchell.

Men's lacrosse

• Coast Guard freshman Caleb Holdridge scored seven goals as the Bears beat Manhattanville 18-6. Holdridge, the former Waterford standout, had five goals in the first half and also had one assist and four ground balls. Will Iorio had four goals and two assists, Matty Johnson scored twice with three ground balls, Paul Mamay had four caused turnovers and Logan Tobias led the Bears (1-1) with 11 ground balls.

• Mitchell opened its season with a 20-3 loss to Farmingdale State. Jade Shields scorded all three goals for Mitchell and teammate Desmond Knowles had nine ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Men's hockey

• Conn College wrapped up the eighth and final spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference tournament with a 2-1 win over Colby. Paul Capozzi and Anthony Quatieri scored goals and Avery Gobbo made 19 saves for the Camels (11-11-2, 7-9-2), who play at No. 1 Williams in next Saturday's quarterfinals.

• Benjamin Freeman scored the tying goal with 56 seconds left in regulation and Alexander Payusov scored the game-winner 19 seconds into overtime to lift UConn past Boston University on Friday night, 4-3 in Hockey East. Benjamin Freeman had a goal and two assists, Carter Turnbull had a goal and an assist and Kale Howarth scored for UConn (13-13-4, 10-8-2). Also, Tomas Vomacka added 23 saves. Case McCarthy, Jack DeBoer and Cam Crotty scored for the Terriers (12-10-8, 9-6-5).

Men's swimming

• Charlie Adl placed fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:35.25) for Conn College on Day 2 of the NESCAC Championships on Friday. Adl teamed with AJ Steininger, Marc Stern and Mitchell Lockwood to place sixth in the 400 medley relay (3:24.22), and with Julien Legros, Neal Mahoney and Lockwood to finish seventh in the 200 freestyle relay (1:23.57). Williams (832.5 points) leads through 10 events and Conn is eighth place (263.5).
