Man charged with murder in fatal Norwich shooting
Norwich — A Norwich man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting this summer in the city.
Kendon A. Cole III, 27, of 13 Sylvester St. was charged Tuesday with murder, felony murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm.
He was charged in a shooting that took place in June and left a 66-year-old man dead.
On June 10, police responded to 52 Laurel Hill Ave. about 1:45 p.m. for a report of a gunshot victim and found Edward McIntyre dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Cole was arrested on a warrant from the Norwich Police Department on Tuesday and already was in custody at the time of his arrest. He has been at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Facility since July 23, according to court records.
In July, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and sale of a narcotic substance, according to records. He was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 30 for those charges and was being held on a $150,000 bond.
On Tuesday morning, Cole was arraigned on the charges connected to McIntyre's death and was being held on a court-issued $2 million bond, according to police. The warrant in the murder case is sealed.
