    Sun's Jones, Thomases feted

Center Jonquel Jones and guard Jasmine Thomas were both selected to the WNBA’s All-Defensive Team first team while forward Alyssa Thomas was chosen for the second team, as voted on by head coaches.

It is the third straight season that Jasmine Thomas has made first team (she was also second team in 2016). Thomas tied for sixth in overall steals (48) and helped the Sun finish second overall (23-11).

It is Jones’ first All-Defensive honor. She led the league in both overall rebounds (330) and blocks (68).

Alyssa Thomas finished third in steals (1.94) in earning her second All-Defensive team selection (her first was in 2017). Thomas was sixth in overall rebounds (264) and third in steals (69).

Jones was also selected by a media panel to the Associated Press’ All-WNBA first team.

Connecticut received a double bye to the semifinals and will play host to the highest seed next week in Game 1 (Tuesday, Sept. 17) and Game 2 (Thursday, Sept. 19). Both games are at 6:30 p.m.
