    Margaret Young Sullivan

    Margaret Young Sullivan, 92 years young, formerly of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2008 in Severna Park, Md.

    Mrs. Sullivan was the widow of Attorney James Thomas Sullivan, who passed away on April 7, 1982. The Sullivan family lived at 269 Broadway in Norwich for more than 40 years. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Norwich on August 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Daniel C. and Ann Doyle Young.

    She was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, Connecticut College for Women (now Connecticut College), and Teachers College of Connecticut (now Central Connecticut State University).

    Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the faculties of Williams Memorial Institute (New London) and Kelly Junior High School (Norwich). Her affiliations included The Sykes Society at Connecticut College; past Diocesan President of the Council of Catholic Women; the Advisory Board of Catholic Charities; and the Board of the Eliza Huntington Home. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Cathedral and a member of the Rosary Society at St. Patrick's.

    Survivors include her five children: James T. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Severna Park, Md.; Dr. Daniel Y. Sullivan and his wife, Mary Lou, of McLean, Va.; John P. Sullivan and his wife, Joan, of Bozrah; Richard M. Sullivan and his wife, Jane, of Pittsfield, Mass.; and Rosemary S. VanGraafeiland and her husband, Jack, of Middletown. She leaves 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom she was so very proud and held a special place in her heart.

    Mrs. Sullivan was pre-deceased by her brothers, Dr. Daniel D. Young and John D. Young, and her sister, Mary Virginia Marchese.

    Peg Sullivan was a special person. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will take place during a Memorial Mass at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, Norwich at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Sullivan's memory to St. Patrick's School 211 Broadway Norwich, CT 06360. Arrangements are by Godere Funeral Home Taftville.
