    Midsummer festivities in Old Lyme

Old Lyme is hosting its annual Midsummer Festival on Friday and Saturday. After two years without the town-wide event, the festival will celebrate the summer with live music, exhibitions, food, and more.

On Friday, the festivities will kick off with live music on the Florence Griswold Museum’s lawn, along with the “Dana Sherwood: Animal Appetites and other Encounters in Wildness” exhibition, at 7 p.m.

The museum will also be holding a Super Sale at its gift shop for the weekend, and if you’re a dog lover, the Parading Paws Dog Show will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Visitors will also enjoy a variety of events throughout the Old Lyme Arts District: the Midsummer Run Saturday morning, nad the Lion’s Club Classic Car Show at the CT Audobon Society’s RTP Estuary Center. Note that the talk by author Luanne Rice scheduled for Saturday at the OL-PGN Library has been postponed until Oct. 29 “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Old Lyme Midsummer Festival, 7-9 p.m. Fri. and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat., Florence Griswold Museum, 96 Lyme St., Old Lyme, and other venues in Old Lyme Arts District; free admission (check individual events for pricing); exploreoldlyme.com/midsummer-festival.
