Dar Williams will meet you at The Kate

Pop-folksinger Dar Williams performs Dec. 28 in Old Saybrook’s Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. As I type this, it’s eight days until that concert and, glancing at The Kate’s seating chart for the show, I see that there are exactly two — TWO — seats still available.

I’m gonna suggest that, if you have hopes of seeing Williams this time around, Santa hopefully left your tickets under the tree or in your stocking. If Santa has a peculiar sense of humor, he MIGHT leave you a lump of coal in the latter, along with a Post-it Note that says, “You weren’t good enough this year to get ducats to Dar Williams. Sorry! On the other hand, you can take a small measure of delight in the realization that Ol’ Santa has invented a way to make Post-it Notes stick to coal, which, heretofore, didn’t work very well.”

Williams is touring behind her 13th album, “I’ll Meet You Here,” a typically erudite, smoothly listenable recording full of melodic songs in which she seems to be pondering the steady processional of Time — and she does so with grace and wisdom.

Dar Williams with Beth Nielson Chapman, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 28, The Kate, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $35; www.thekate.org, (860) 510-0453.
