Matt Rife starts five-night stand at Mohegan Sun on Feb. 21

    Matt Rife (Matt Rife Facebook)

Comedian Matt Rife headlines the Mohegan Sun Arena — a 10,000 seat venue — Feb. 21-25. That’s not a typo. Five nights in a row!

    A few questions:

    1. Who IS Matt Rife?

    2. Could Taylor Swift sell out the Mohegan Sun Arena five nights in a row?

    3. Will I do my job and research Matt Rife so as to provide You, the reader, with wise analysis and information?

    Answers:

    1. He’s a comic in his late 20s. He’s a sleepy-eyed bicep-developer who looks like he could have gotten a degree in seducing the little sisters of every dude he knew in college. Professionally, Rife riffs on the same sex-and-relationship kegger topics every other 20-something comic has explored throughout the history of laughter.

    2. Yes, she could. Taylor could sell out Earth. But I bring her into this to suggest Matt Rife must be a Big Deal to get booked in a major venue five freakin’ nights in a row.

    3. I watched about 30 minutes of one of Rife’s stand-up specials. That’ll do me. I think that, if you’re in his age demographic, and dammit you missed out on Dane Cook’s Glory Years, you’ll probably find Rife pretty amusing.

Matt Rife, 8 p.m. Feb. 21-25, Mohegan Sun Arena; sold out Fri. and Sat., $81 and up Wed., $156 and up Thurs., $180 and up Sun.; mohegansun.com.
