    SAILFEST 2016

Ah, Sailfest, you little cyclone of fun, you! You're back! Actually, you're not so little. In fact, you're the region's favorite summertime festival — and folks from all over New England are actually glad the Independence Day celebrations are out of the way just so they can head to New London and focus on what will be your 39th annual presentation.

The fest officially opens at noon on Friday and rocks through Sunday afternoon and, well, fans know and salivate over what to expect. Distinctly non-healthy (and as such totally fun) food! Family-beguiling events! Live music and performances! Vitamin-strength carnival rides! The Saturday night sensory overdose known as the Mashantucket Pequot Fireworks Extravaganza! Bank and State Streets flourishing with booths full of crafts, food, clothing, jewelry, and gifts! The Sunday morning Sailfest Charter Oak Federal Credit Union 5K Road Race starting in front of The Day offices! And so much more ...

Enough with the preamble. That stuff's for Constitutions and whatnot. Here's what to expect on the three live music stages.
