Mystic Museum of Art receives $100,000 from anonymous donor

The Mystic Museum of Art has announced a gift from an anonymous donor of $100,000 to support the program and operating goals of the museum’s strategic plan.

The museum is striving for national stature as an exhibiting institution.

“This gift means even more than financial support — it’s a whole-hearted endorsement of the plan the Board brought me here to accomplish,” Executive Director Susan Fisher said in a statement. Fisher’s tenure at MMoA began in December 2018, following a national search.

MMoA’s plan to enrich appreciation of the Mystic Art Colony’s heritage and build on it with high-caliber exhibitions and educational programs, requires significant resources.

“This gift could not be more timely,” said Bill Furgueson, the museum’s director of external affairs. “Everything from collection storage and exhibition facilities, to technological resources for the staff, has to rise to the standard of museum quality.”

Furgueson said the size of this contribution allows the museum to initiate significant projects, like upgrades to its historic galleries.
