Over its 19 years, Celebrate East Lyme has really grown. It now attracts an estimated 35,000 people from all over the area to downtown Niantic. And its offerings have expanded exponentially.

The event returns this Saturday with an entertainingly wide array of activities, from a sand castle competition to paddleboard demonstrations to an interactive children’s area to free yoga classes to Giuliano’s Bakery Monster Eating Competition.

Phew. All that, plus much more going on during the day (including 200-plus vendors along Main Street), culminating in a festive fireworks display sponsored by Dominion.
