    Back and Fourth

I know, I know: Who wants a holiday to fall on a Tuesday?

    But, still: It’s a holiday.

And so let’s celebrate the 4th of July on that day, and a little earlier, too.

Saturday is the choice for multiple Independence Day festivities.

Mystic Seaport Museum hosts its Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, when reenactors from several Connecticut and British regiments bring history to life. They’ll do drills and demos, and folks can learn about soldiers’ lives back then. And there will be a parade at noon.

Over in Old Lyme, Sound View will hold its annual parade on Saturday morning. It promises a marching band, VFW Honor Guard, floats, and more. If you want to join the procession, line up at 9:45 a.m. on Hartford Avenue.

Saturday brings fireworks over Norwich Harbor after dark.

And on the 4th of July proper, Groton will present its parade, which boasts local organizations alongside fire engines, marching bands and antique cars. The Tuesday procession travels along Route 1 from Poquonnock Plains Park to Drozdyk Drive.

    Independence Day Celebration, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Mystic Seaport Museum, 75 Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic; admission $28 adults, $19 ages 4-12, $24 ages 13-17, $26 ages 65 and up; (860) 572-0711, mysticseaport.org.

Sound View Parade, 10 a.m. Saturday, starting at Shoreline Community Center, 39 Hartford Ave., Old Lyme.

Norwich Harbor Fireworks, after dusk Saturday, Norwich Harbor.

Groton Parade, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Route 1 from Poquonnock Plains Park to Drozdyk Drive, Groton.
