Celebrate East Lyme returns Saturday

Niantic has a celebration for every season. There is the vaunted Niantic Light Parade, which illuminates the town in December. And the summer season brings the popular Celebrate East Lyme.

This year’s Celebrate happens on Saturday and boasts festivities ranging from a sand castle competition to fireworks that cap the event a little after 9 p.m. over Niantic Bay.

During the day, vendors line Main Street, and bands play on stages at Pro-Tek Auto, Main Street Park, McCook Point Park.

St. John’s Episcopal Church hosts a carnival, and Hole in the Wall Beach is the site of the aforementioned sand castle competition, which is hosted by East Lyme Parks & Recreation Department.
