When Mother Nature canceled winter, she forget to text all the brewmasters. Usually by March, as we head toward spring, all the winter beers have been devoured. But this year, with the unseasonably warm temps and lack of snow, it was hard to get enthusiastic about a Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale or an Anchor Christmas Ale. Last week I spotted a cooler full of winter beers in a restaurant and decided to pass on the Sam Adams Alpine Spring and order a Winterhook, the wonderfully malty seasonal from Redhook. So before the vernal equinox hits on March 20, you have some time to enjoy your favorite winter brew.
