    H.S. golf: Looney's 3-under 33 lifts Old Lyme to easy win

    East Haddam — Pat Looney fired a 3-under-par 33 at Fox Hopyard as Old Lyme defeated Hale-Ray 147-230 in a Shoreline Conference boys' golf match on Thursday.

    Looney's scored and Old Lyme's medal total were the lowest individual and team scores in at least a decade, according to coach Kirk Kaczor. Connor Maguire added a 27 for the Wildcats while Corey Drummond shot a 38 and Peter Macadam a 39.

    In other matches:

    • Montville's Sam Gaboury shot an impressive 2-under-par 34 for the Indians' only point in a 6-1 Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II loss to Waterford at Norwich Golf Course. Ryan Sakosky and Nick Hynes each shot 42 for the Lancers (8-9, 4-5) with Hynes, Joe Lathrop and Bruce Taggart each winning matches. Montvile is 1-10, 0-7.

    • East Lyme beat Wheeler 7-0 behind co-medalists Evan Kluge and Ben Bohmbach, who shot 40s. Matt Orefice, Logan Rolfe and Quenten Dean also won matches for the Vikings (13-1). Wheeler (2-7, 2-5) lost to Plainfield 7-0 in an ECC Division III match.

    • Seamus Sullivan shot a 43 to earn medalist honors and lead NFA to a 6.5-0.5 victory over Fitch in an ECC Division I match at Shennecossett GC in Groton. Warren Strong, Andrew Gromko and Jackson Guertin also won for the Wildcats (9-10, 4-1) while Adam Danis halved his match with Fitch's Drew McCormack. The Falcons are 5-7, 1-4.

    • Killingly wrapped up the ECC Division II title with a 7-0 win over Stonington. Dylan Deotte of Killingly (12-1, 9-0) was the medalist with a 38. Jack Glenn of Stonington (10-2, 6-2) shot a 39.

    • Grasso Tech lost Kaynor Tech in a Connecticut Technical Conference match, 215-226. Reese Cote led Grasso with a 52.

    • New London lost to Griswold 7-0. A.J. McClain and Mekih Rodriguez shot 53s for New London (1-11).
