    H.S. roundup: East Lyme golf team remains unbeaten

    Waterford — East Lyme remained unbeaten by defeating Waterford 7-0 in a high school golf match at Great Neck Country Club on Tuesday.

    East Lyme's Evan Kluge, Ben Bohmbach and Matt Orefice shared medalist honors with 42s, and Logan Rolfe and Dan Singer also won matches for the Vikings (5-0).

    Nick Hynes led Waterford (2-3) with a 46.

    In other matches:

    • Wheeler beat Tourtellotte 5.5-1.5 in its Eastern Connecticut Conference Division IV opener. Bryce Reck, Ryan Hare and Seth Kosztala won matches for the Lions (1-1, 1-0), who won the medal point 203-212, and Alec Rustici halved his match at No. 2.

    • Stonington's Grant Hamilton, RJ Parrilla and Jacob Geary each shot 4-over 39s to share medalist honors in Stonington's 7-0 win over Windham/Parish Hill at Elmridge Golf Course. Cooper Wall added a 40 for the Bears (2-1).

    • Woodstock Academy handed Norwich Free Academy its first loss, 5-2. Jackson Guertin shot a 43 for the Wildcats (4-1) and Andrew Bromko a 47.

    • Fitch lost to Morgan 4.5-2.5 in a nonleague match. Drew McCormick and Casey Adams won matches and Charlie Bresnahan halved his match for Fitch (2-2).

    Baseball

    • Chris Cullen struck out eight over six innings as Montville topped Windham 9-1. Colby Miner, Sean Murallo and Griffin Pontbriant each had two hits for the Indians (8-1).

    • Ian Small allowed two hits over six innings with seven strikeouts as NFA edged Killingly 2-1. Jack Espinoza hit an RBI single, Jon Synott doubled and scored, and Becker Bordeau walked in a run for NFA (6-4).

    • Robert Holland had a double, two runs and two RBI and pitched the final four innings in relief, giving up one hit with four strikeouts, as Grasso Tech beat Bullard-Havens 7-0 in the first game of a Connecticut Technical Conference doubleheader. Brendan DeCora had a single and two runs for the Eagles and Johancy Baez had a single, run and an RBI. Holland had two home runs, three runs and six RBI as Grasso Tech won the second game 16-6 in five innings. Cameron Polen had two hits, two runs and two RBI, Derek Nunez had a single and two runs, and Randy Vidal had a single, run and RBI for Grasso.

    • North Branford scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat Old Lyme 10-4 in the Shoreline Conference. Jack Carney and Jesper Silberberg each had two hits for Old Lyme (5-5).

    Boys' track

    • Robert Lewis and Rhys Hammond won two events each as Stonington beat Plainfield 92-58 in an ECC Division III meet. Lewis won the 110 hurdles (16.9) and 300 hurdles (44.1) and Hammond won the 800 (2:00.5) and 1600 (4:31). Joey Hinckley, Jake Davis, Harrison Rose and George Limberakis also won events for Stonington (2-1, 2-0).

    • Adam Crawford and Xander Hutchins won two individual events apiece as Ledyard rolled to a 91-59 ECC Division II win over New London. Crawford captured the 300 hurdles (42.2) and javelin (147-6.5) for the Colonels (2-0, 2-0), while Hutchins won the high jump (5-8) and discus (121-7.5). James Smith (100, 10.8), Jahmik Devone (499, 53.7), Ian Kamperschroer (800, 2:10.4) and Jaiden Bickham (200, 23.5) added wins for Ledyard and were part of winning relay teams. The Whalers (1-2, 1-1) picked up wins from Rayshawn Wright in the 1,600 (4:56.9), John Mateo in the 3,200 (11:09.8). Clayton Smith in the triple jump (36-10) and Dan Duperval in the shot put (40-5).

    Girls' track

    • Kaleigh Bolduc, Aliza Bell and Lila Rich won two events each as Stonington beat Plainfield 92.5-52.5 in an ECC Division III meet. Bolduc won the 100 hurdles (17.4) and 300 hurdles (51.7), Bell won the discus (78-9) and javelin (103-0) and Rich won the pole vault (7-6) and high jump (4-10). Lindsey Orr, Mary Gray, Izzy Yarnall and Lucy Sternberg also won events for Stonington (2-1, 2-0).

    • Olivia Crawford won two individual events and was part of two winning relay teams during Ledyard's 115-28 win over New London in an ECC Division II meet. Crawford won the 100 hurdles (17.4) and 300 hurdles (52.0) for the Colonels (2-0, 2-0). She joined Nadia Helme, Abby Millbach and Jessica Vajdos to win the 4x100 relay (53.9) and teamed with Vajdos, Teia Lee and Katherine Herren to win the 4x400 relay (4:47.5). Helme added wins in the 100 (13.0) and long jump (14-11) for Ledyard while Jayden Burns won the 200 (29.4) and Eliza Brown the discus (94-9) for New London (0-3, 0-2).
