    H.S. roundup: Montville boys post three golf wins at Norwich Golf Course

    Norwich — Morgun Whittaker shot a two-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors and lead unbeaten Montville High School to three wins in a series of boys' golf matches at Norwich Golf Course on Wednesday.

    Montville beat Norwich Free Academy 5-2, Woodstock Academy 5-2 and Stonington 6.5-0.5, upping its record to 6-0. Cameron DeCecco added a 44 for Montville, which won the team medal points with a total of 177.

    In other scores, NFA (5-1, 2-0) beat Woodstock 5-2 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I match, and Stonington 6-1, while Woodstock beat Stonington 4.5-2.5. Woodstock's Kyle Brennan and Stonington's Brandon Tavares shot 41s and NFA's Kyle Sikorski a 42. Stonington is 3-4.

    In other matches:

    • Kieran Boscoe shot a 45 to lead Wheeler past Tourtellote 7-0 at Raceway Golf Club in Thompson. Cameron Conway and Tyler Signor each shot 52 for the Lions (1-1 overall, 1-0 ECC Division IV), who won the team medal points 202-223.

    • Owen Lanuza fired a 41 for Waterford in a 7-0 loss to Killingly at Great Neck Country Club. Killingly's Ethan Lackner was the individual medalist with a 35 and Killingly won the team medal points 157-185. Waterford is 2-3 overall, 1-2 in ECC Division II.

    • Vinal Tech toppled Grasso Tech 200-212 in a Connecticut Technical Conference match at Pequot Golf Club. Ian Main shot a 49 to lead Grasso and Nolan Blewitt had a 50, while Vinal Tech's Aaron DiPalma took medalist honors with a 44. Grasso is 1-5 overall, 1-4 in the CTC.

    • Pat Flanagan shot a 47 to lead Old Lyme in a 172-209 loss to unbeatem Morgan in a Shoreline Conference match ar Clinton Country Club. Morgan's CJ Giuliano took medalist honors with a 40. Old Lyme is 1-3 overall, Morgan 6-0.

    Girls' golf

    • Jillian Marcotte, Ella Musumeci and Shannon Cuniff each shot a 57 for Bacon Academy in a 242-273 loss to Woodstock Academy at Chanticlair Golf Course. Bacon is 0-1.

    Softball

    • Caity Flynn pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 to earn the victory and also had a single, triple and three runs scored in Norwich Tech's 24-3 win over Vinal Tech in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. Autumn Hanks, Emily Grant and Janelle Lambert each added two hits for Norwich Tech (6-1) and Sydney Brown doubled.

    • Waterford took a 13-0 lead after two innings and defeated Bacon Academy 24-1 in five innings. Maddie Burrows had a single, triple and home run to go along with five RBI and two runs scored for Waterford (8-2), while Lexi Collins and Lily Marelli added four hits each and Emma Marelli had three hits. Anna Dziecinny and Brielle Kenney combined to pitch a three-hitter. Samantha D'Atri had a double and a run scored and Natalie Vernali an RBI single for Bacon (2-7).

    • Sophia Meade singled in the winning run in the top of the eighth inning in Guilford's 8-7 victory over East Lyme. East Lyme, trailing 3-0, scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead but Guilford came back with four in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. Ava Korineck had two hits for East Lyme (3-4).

    • Old Lyme beat Hale-Ray 9-2 in the Shoreline Conference. Ava Roth, winning pitcher Emma Bayor, Jenna Schauder, Grace Phaneuf and Anna Eichholza had two hits each for Old Lyme (8-3, 8-3).

    • Fitch beat Woodstock Academy 14-0, getting a homer by Grace Cosmopoulos and the combined pitching of Charlotte Cabral and McKynzi Dawson, who each struck out four. Grace Jenkins and Fiona Taber each had a hit and two RBI for the Fitch (3-5).

    • Cheney Tech topped Grasso Tech 38-27. Alicia Rodrigues and Jazmyn Lopez had two hits each for Grasso (0-6).

    Boys' lacrosse

    • Waterford built an 8-2 halftime lead and cruised to a 13-6 win over Fitch in an ECC Division I game Tuesday night. Jackson Huta scored five goals to lead the Lancers (6-2, 2-1) while C.J. Landry had three goals and three assists, Anthony Stone scored three goals and goalie Jake Kozlowski made 14 saves. Boden Frost had two goals and two assists for the Falcons (4-3, 2-2), Evan Salen had two goals and one assist and James Miner scored twice.

    • Anthony Ballestrini had six goals and nine assists to highlight NFA's 20-11 win over Woodstock in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday. Quinn Perkins added four goals and two assists for the Wildcats (4-3, 1-3) while Logan Jenkins had three goals and three assists, Nolan Brown had three goals and Conor Gaughan had two goals and one assist.

    Girls' lacrossse

    • Bridget O'Leary had three goals and four assists as Fitch routed Bacon Academy 17-7 in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday. Rita Sefransky added four goals and two assists while Nora Casey finished with five goals for the Falcons (3-3, 2-1), who also picked up goals from Dre'Ana Singleton, Grace Moriarity, Sophia Clang and Madison Corbiel. Bacon is 4-3, 1-2.
