    High school softball

    Waterford right fielder Sage Bagwell fights the sun but tracks down a fly ball for an out during the Lancers' 17-0 victory over East Lyme Thursday morning.

    Griswold - Taylor Lane pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two, to lift the Griswold High School softball team to an 11-0 victory Thursday over Lyman Memorial. Lane (4-0) also went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolverines.

    Samantha Logan was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI for Griswold (4-0) and Jess Synott, Jessy Bouchard, Nina Wojtkiewicz and Erin Fish had two hits each. Lyman Memorial is 0-3.

    In other games:

    • Randi Parrilla and Morgan Conlin combined to pitch a five-inning no-hitter as Stonington rolled to a 22-0 victory over Putnam. Parrilla had five strikeouts over four innings and Conlin struck out the side in the fifth. Parrilla also doubled, tripled, drove in three runs and scored twice for the Bears (2-1) while Skylar Bareford was 2-for-3 with four RBI and Ashley Wheeler went 2-for-2 with three RBI.

    • Alexa Gospodinoff came within one out of a no-hitter, leading St. Bernard to a 1-0 win over Windham. Gospodinoff (4-0) allowed just a two-out triple to Katelyn Werner in the seventh. She struck out seven and walked two. The Saints (4-0) scored in the first when freshman Mena Buscetto singled, stole second and third base and scored on a bunt single by Marissa Mazzotta.

    • Tess Rubega's solo homer in the seventh inning for Norwich Free Academy was the first to leave the fenced-in field at Ledyard, as NFA topped the Colonels 6-1 in the ECC Large Division. Theresa Mailhot also homered for NFA (2-1, 1-0), with a two-run inside the park shot in the fifth. Rubega was the winning pitcher, yielding three hits, and added a double. Ledyard is 1-2, 0-1.

    • Waterford scored 10 runs in the sixth inning and beat East Lyme 17-0 in six innings in the ECC Large Division. Alyssa Hancock had three hits, including a double, with four runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases for the Lancers (2-0, 1-0) and Kate Sykora had a double, two singles, three RBI and three runs scored. Mattie Brett, Tricia Haire and Kaylee Deer had two hits each and Erin Miller (1-0) pitched a one-hitter for the victory. Madison Horner had East Lyme's only hit, a single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. East Lyme is 0-3, 0-1.

    • Fitch scored all three runs in the third inning, sparked by a two-run double from Alana Luzzio, to beat Woodstock Academy 3-1 in the ECC Large Division. Brianna Turgeon had a hit, scored and had the Falcons' other RBI. Haley Cooper (2-0) picked up the victory for Fitch (4-1, 1-0).

    • Makaila Kowalsky went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored as Bacon Academy erupted for 17 hits in a 13-5 victory over Killingly. Tori Fearon also had a 4-for-5 day for the Bobcats (2-1) with three RBI, a run and a stolen base while Allie Carey went 2-for-3 and scored three times.
