    New London Hall of Famers take their place

    New London High School will induct five new players into its Football Hall of Fame on Sunday during the annual football banquet/Hall of Fame ceremony at 1 p.m. at the school.

    Warren Whitehouse (Class of 1958), Fred Fabricant (1960), Ron Donovan (1971), Mike Morgan (2005) and Aaron Bryant (2005) will have their names join the list of other former Whaler greats, while coach Duane Maranda honors the 2014 Whalers and their seniors.

    Following is a capsule look at the five inductees:

    Whitehouse (1958) lettered in football, basketball and baseball, playing all football all four years, two as a fullback and two as a linebacker. He was on the kickoff team all four years and was a team captain as a junior and senior. He remains involved in the game as a high school football official.

    Fabricant (1960) used his speed to become a force as a halfback/wide receiver on offense and cornerback on defense, averaging more than 10 yards per carry as a senior and coming out of the backfield to be threat in the passing game. He also returned punts and kickoffs and was an all-conference selection his senior season when the Whalers went 7-2

    Donovan (1971) earned a varsity letter all four seasons for the Whalers as an offensive guard, earning All-Capital District Conference honors as a senior in 1970 when he was also the recipient of New London's Unsung Hero Award on offense. He also received the National Varsity Club Award in 1970 and later attended the University of New Haven.

    Morgan (2005) was another two-way starter as a running back and cornerback, serving as a team captain for two seasons. He was a two-time member of The Day's All-Area team, recording 11 interceptions his final two seasons, and was an all-state selection as a cornerback during his senior season. He went on to play football at Bryant University.

    Bryant (2005), a teammate with Morgan, was a quarterback/defensive back and also a two-year captain who was a member of The Day's All-Area team and the recipient of the MLK Scholarship Award. He attended UConn as a preferred walk-on, playing defensive back and linebacker. He spent his a fifth season as a scholarship player in the Masters program at Bryant and led the team and conference in sacks.
