    H.S. lacrosse: Unbeaten Fitch girls edge Stonington 12-11

    Groton — Zoe Pearse scored five goals, including the game-winner with 33 seconds remaining, as Fitch remained unbeaten with a wild 12-11 girls' lacrosse victory over Stonington on Thursday at Poquonnock Plains Field.

    Maggie O'Leary and Jessica Russo added three goals apiece for the Falcons (3-0), Danielle McIlquham had three assists and goalie Molly Bresnahan stopped 12 shots. Charlotte Carney also scored a goal for Fitch.

    Stonington (3-2) was led by Hannah Lamb's four goals while Kate Johnson added three, Emma Sabbadini two, and Kate Regan and Lexi Woviotas one apiece. Goalie Molly Banks made six saves for the Bears.

    In other games:

    • Katie Kelly scored six goals to lift Norwich Free Academy past Bacon Academy 14-7. Kayley Ericson had three goals and Riam Kilimos added two while G.G. Guerrier, Jess Bryan and Catie Shannon also scored for the Wildcats (3-2).

    • Lydia Tinnerello had five goals and four assists as Old Lyme beat Valley Regional 14-11 in a Shoreline Conference game. Paige Britton had three goals and an assist, Anna Sather had two goals and three assists and Emily Erne made 14 saves for Old Lyme (2-2, 2-0).

    • Sophie Spencer scored eight goals as defending Class M champion Branford beat East Lyme 15-3. The Hornets are 5-0. Karlie Rowe scored all three goals for the Vikings (2-1) and Olivia Facchini had two assists.

    Boys

    • Sean Ventresca scored three goals, including the game winner at 2:22 of the second overtime, as Montville outlasted Woodstock Academy 6-5. Sam Kury, Derek Debbis and Joe Andrews also scored goals for the Indians (2-4) while Kury won 13 of 14 faceoffs and freshman goalie Steve Turchetta made eight saves.

    • Immaculate edged Norwich Tech/Windham Tech 10-9 in overtime. Alex Ryan scored five goals for the Warriors while Cole Paquin added three goals and James Balogh scored one.
