Checking in with Luke: "Hitting my first grand slam was my best moment (in baseball) because of the feeling it gave me and how my teammates reacted. I remember rounding the bases and seeing my entire team at home plate going crazy, firing us up for the rest of the game."

What you need to know about Luke: LaSaracina is a three-sport athlete at Bacon Academy, also competing for the basketball team and playing wide receiver/defensive back for the football team. Last baseball season he hit .426 with three homers and 23 RBI to earn first team All-ECC Division II honors. He was also the ECC scholar-athlete for the Bobcats during basketball season. "My inspiration behind my success academically is definitely driven by my parents," he said. "Seeing how hard they work and looking at the example that they set, I always took pride in working hard in the classroom." He's planning the post-grad year at Avon Old Farms due to the chaos caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. This will make him a Class of 2021 recruiting target for colleges while maximizing his potential academically and athletically, he said. He was most looking forward to playing baseball with his lifelong friends one more time this spring. "Seeing that we had lost zero seniors last year, we as a team felt we could really have a chance at doing something big this year in tournament play and I was really looking forward to possibly living out those aspirations," LaSaracina said. He plays AAU baseball for the CT Hurricanes. LaSaracina's favorite restaurant in Colchester is Plum Tomato, where he typically orders "The Sammy the Bull" sandwich on Brickini bread with no cheese. He enjoys the beach and spending time with his friends and family. He was slated to pitch a little bit this season for the first time since Little League and took pitching lessons over the winter to prepare. Said LaSaracina, addressing his teammates: "I would like to say that even though we all felt this was gonna be our year, the year we had a shot in tournament play, that the memories we made the past three years on the diamond are ones that I will cherish for a lifetime."
