Sheckley's special skills would benefit East Lyme schools

Manufacturing firms in southeastern Connecticut face a critical shortage of skilled workers. To address this shortage manufacturers seek the assistance of educational institutions. The leadership required to address this challenge is present in candidates such as Barry Sheckley, who is seeking election to the East Lyme Board of Education.

I worked closely with Dr. Sheckley in U.S. Department of Labor sponsored programs to advance students' employability. In each program Barry skillfully applied his insights about the human brain to advance students’ self-direction skills, analytical skills, and career navigation skills. In each program students gained skills necessary to enter the world of work, and more importantly, gained the valuable life skills necessary to become agents of their lifelong employability.

East Lyme residents have the opportunity to greatly benefit the East Lyme educational system with the contributions that Barry would bring to the Board of Education.
