The first time I got to work with Lauren Gauthier was when she approached the Groton Shellfish Commission with an idea to help make the water testing and shellfish meat sampling process more efficient for both the local shellfish commissions and the state. She led the effort to bring the state regulators and the local shellfish commissions together to work out a way to meet the sampling requirements without overburdening the volunteer commissioners. Her leadership helped resolve a long-standing tension between the state regulators and the Eastern shellfish commissions. It also enabled us to upgrade the water classifications in some of our shellfishing areas because we were able to better concentrate our resources. Lauren Gauthier’s ability to bring people together to find solutions is exactly what we need in the state legislature, and that is why I am supporting her run for state representative this November 3.
