    Political cartoon misrepresented ACA

I take exception to your political cartoon on Dec. 8, disparaging Obamacare as dropping insurance policies when the bell rings. It likely misleads some of our uninsured who may badly need good health care.

This was not fair and balanced, fact-based journalism, but the perpetuation of a extreme right wing, anti-Obama lie.

The fact is that the Affordable Care Act contains new standards for the quality and extent of health care, that some of the existing policies do not meet. Because the insurance companies will no longer be able to sell these policies next year, they are notifying their customers.

Those notified can then phone an available contact number or peruse their state or federal exchange to find the health care coverage that fits their needs and budget. Medical professionals, familiar with the details of the ACA, claim that most people can then get better insurance coverage, for less money than in their cancelled policy.

I have found that most people don't check things out as well as they should. This is why a political cartoon showing the president and giving a wrong impression of the ACA, is a disservice to your readers.
