New London's snow removal Samaritans touched her heart

New London often gets a bad rap, but I'm here to tell you that New Londoners shine. I am in my late 70s and snowstorms are not on my favorites' list. I live on a corner lot and have at least 300 feet of frontage that is my responsibility to clear. This can be a big dent in the budget of a person on a fixed income.

As I was looking at the prospect of finding someone to clear the sidewalk after a recent snowfall, a van drove up and parked in front of my house. Out poured a family of five, a mom, dad, and kids. Next thing I see is a family armed with shovels clearing my sidewalk and front walkway! I went out to greet them and all they said was that they were volunteers out to help their community. I asked if I could give a donation but they declined.

I don't know who they are but I want them to know that they truly touched my heart. It's time we shined a light on the good people out there. I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart and I will do my best to play it forward.
