Her free weddings deserved Day's attention

I find it disheartening that The Day found it had to go out of state for some good news (a couple getting married on top of the Empire State Building) on Valentine's Day when each year I perform free Valentine's Day weddings for anyone.

What's embarrassing, The Westerly Sun came over and showed you guys up. They showcased all the love from the couples who came to get married for free. They created an opportunity to show the blessings that are happening right around us each and every day.

When there is so much turmoil going on these days, does it not make sense to capture the opportunity to remind us all that there are still some wonderful things happening?

I hope that The Day will support local efforts to do good when the opportunity arises. Many other people offered their time to help make this successful. The Olde Mystic Village gives me the Meeting House for free each year. Mystic Color and Spa offered up a fabulous hair and makeup package, Begli Occhi Photography was there to take pictures. Jan Adele was my event coordinator, Jen Daly my PR girl.

Editor's note: The Day provided advanced notice of Wiley's wedding event and has covered it in past years. This year the newspaper in providing "some good news" featured the Chelsea Parade Barbershop Quartet singing to patients at a rehabilitation center, a Valentine's Day event that raised money for charity.
