Shoes will drop, and so may Trump

The late comedian Groucho Marx famously asked once, "Who are you going to believe? Me? Or your lying eyes?"

Fast forward to the present, and the abhorrent conduct of Donald Trump at Helsinki, Finland is an excellent example of what Groucho may have had in mind. Rather than defending America, our president would prefer to cozy up to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and reject the overwhelming consensus of the country's combined intelligence agencies that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election. (Editor's note: the president subsequently acknowledged the Russian interference.)

Now, there are some who apparently find comfort in believing that Trump is just overreacting to the inference that his election was not legitimate due to Russia's interference. That's the good reason. The real reason is that he has something to hide and Vlad has him between a rock and a hard place. In time, however, we will learn the truth. It is only a matter of time before Team Mueller exposes the depth and breadth of the nefarious activities engaged in by Trump and/or his inner circle.

So, be patient. As Senator John McCain noted at the outset of the Mueller probe, it will take time for all the shoes on this centipede to drop. But they will most assuredly drop.
