    Melting support

David Collins hit the nail on the head with his op ed, “A summer of melting Trump,” (July 28), concerning melting support for our former insurrectionist president (Trump, in case you have been sleeping for six years). Of course, as he points out, Connecticut is a “blue state” and any of the republican wanna-be’s for Blumenthal’s senate seat will be lucky to score more than 15% of the vote in November. It is not just that it is Connecticut — the GOP stance on many issues is wrong, both morally and politically. Look where they took the Supreme Court under his leadership! Trump has demonstrated time and time again his willingness to throw former associates under the media and legal bus when it is convenient. As Collins points out, his recent rage at Fox and Friends makes this clear. These are the people who made him six years ago and support his every “alternate fact.” He is a sea anchor that will continue to bring republicans down, even those with reasonable, popular ideas. Good riddance!
