    Shop till you drop

Waterford has long been a magnet for shoppers, first with the Crystal Mall, which opened in 1984 and then through additions over the decades.

Shopping centers like Waterford Commons have continued to pop up in town, providing places where folks can hit several different stores in one stop — say, buy a book at Books-A-Million, pick up some shoes at DSW, look for some workout wear at Dick’s Sporting Goods, and then grab lunch at Smashburger.

Nearby you’ve got Target, Home Depot, and, yes, still the Crystal Mall, with fewer stores right now but plenty that are worth a look (and no one can pass by a Christmas Tree Shop without going in, right?).

In the middle of town, stores (from Ocean State Job Lot to ALDI) are clustered along a stretch of Boston Post Road. And just off I-95 near Cross Road are plazas with Walmart, Eastern Mountain Sports, and Lowe’s, among other offerings.
