Franklin, Mass. - Doug Domnarski went the distance in the second game as the UConn-Avery Point baseball team swept a doubleheader Saturday from Dean College in NJCAA Region 21, winning the opener 5-2 in nine innings and the second game 7-3.

Domnarski (6-0), the former Stonington standout, pitched a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts, one walk and two earned runs. Nick LeLotto and Alex Miller had three hits each and Andrew Hinckley (three runs) and Nick Perrelli had two hits each for the Pointers (24-6, 5-1 Division II).

Avery Point scored three runs in the top of the ninth in the opener, the first coming when Kevin Hall raced home when ball four of an intentional walk to Hinckley (three hits) resulted in a wild pitch. Matt Greene of New London cemented the win with a two-run single. Groton's Shawn Nadeau (2-0) pitched two hitless innings in relief for the win. Starter Zach Albin allowed five hits and one earned run over seven innings.

In other games:

• Tyler Shamas pitched a three-hitter as Mitchell College salvaged a doubleheader split in the NECC with an 11-0 win over Daniel Webster in the second game. Daniel Webster won the opener 10-4. Shamas (5-2) struck out eight with no walks. Marc Dorsi and Ken Olszewski were each 3-for-5 in the second game for Mitchell (12-10-1, 6-5) and Dorsi drove in four runs and scored three. Waterford's Gavin LaLima had two hits in the opener and Neftali Arroyo doubled and scored twice in the first game for Mitchell.

• Coast Guard Academy scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and won the game on a wild pitch in the 11th, beating WPI 9-8 in the second game of a NEWMAC doubleheader. WPI won the opener 8-7. Ed Lazowski walked to lead off the 11th, stole second and moved to third on a groundout before scoring the game-winner. Dave Wolinski's pinch-hit RBI single scored Cory Sonnega in the ninth to send the game to extras. Kyle Wood and Sonnega each had six hits on the days for Coast guard (11-16, 6-7).

• UConn homered three times in a 7-2 win over Cincinnati in an American Athletic Conference matchup. Blake Davey hit his team-leading sixth homer and Vinny Siena and Griffin Garabedian also homered for the Huskies (16-17, 3-4).

Softball

• Coast Guard was swept by Clark in a NEWMAC doubleheader, losing the opener 4-2 and the second game 6-4. Clark (9-15, 4-8) had 23 hits in the two games and rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win the second game. Jessie Richardson was 3-for-4 in the first game for Coast Guard (10-16, 3-9) and teammate Morgan Kingston had two hits in each game.

• Mitchell College was swept by Newbury in a NECC doubleheader, losing the first game 6-5 and the second game 8-2. Waterford graduates Emily Morenzoni and Samantha Ryan each had three hits and drove in two runs for Mitchell (9-14, 5-3) and Norwich Free Academy graduate Alexandra Blanchette had three hits.

Men's lacrosse

• Connecticut College rallied from a 6-0 deficit to beat Hamilton 13-10 in the NESCAC. Briggs Barton had five goals and an assist, Derek Bertolini had a goal and seven assists, Tyler Hegarty had three goals, JR Hartgers scored twice and Bobby Bleistein made 14 saves for Conn (8-5, 4-4).

• Shane Sullivan of Quaker Hill scored three goals as Mitchell wrapped up the NECC regular-season title with a 14-2 win over Daniel Webster. David Klapp, Demetre Lyras and Aaron Sladyk scored two goals each for Mitchell (7-4, 3-0). JD LeMay (seven) and Jordan Cook of Groton combined for nine saves for Mitchell.

Women's lacrosse

• Hamilton College took a 9-4 halftime lead and held on to beat Connecticut College 11-8 in the NESCAC. Hannah Donegan scored three goals and Cecily Cushman scored twice for Conn (4-9, 0-8).

Men's tennis

• Robert Renfrow and Weston Fortna each won singles matches and were part of winning doubles teams as Coast Guard beat Emerson 9-0 in a NEWMAC match. John Lightner, Townsend Hirst and David Leemon also won singles matches and Mark Guentert and Alex Mead were on winning doubles teams for Coast Guard (4-9, 2-3).

• Mitchell College beat Wheelock 9-0 in the NECC. Orson Sinclair, Michael Berman, Chris McKeon and Michael Edwards of Bozrah won singles matches and the teams of Adam Diaz-Randy Coons and McKeon-Edwards won doubles matches for Mitchell (6-4, 4-3), which also won three matches by forfeit.

Crew

• Connecticut College competed at the Donahue Cup Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. In the men's varsity four, the Camels placed third with a time of 7:08.33 and they were second in the second varsity four in 8:14.2. Conn was fifth in the women's varsity eight at 7:32, fourth in the second varsity eight at 7:28.84 and second in the women's novice eight boat at 7:35.82.

Men's track

• Niall Williams of Connecticut College won the 1,500-meter run at the UMass-Lowell Invitational, with a personal-best time of 3:59.88. Conn's Michael LeDuc won the 5,000 at 14:58.34.

• Coast Guard finished second in a tri-meet as WPI scored 168, followed by the Bears (141.5) and Springfield with 88.5. Individual winners for the Bears were Gary Ezzo (5,000, 15:25.05), Brad Pienta (1,500, 4:00.47), Thomas Bondurant (hammer, 165-5), Ben Wolhaupter (pole vault, 14-7.25), James Dawkins (400, 50.08), Ben Hannon (200, 22.42) and Andrew Scheffey (800, 1:58.43).

Women's track

• Coast Guard freshman Caitlin Piker broke her own school record in the javelin and teammate Kyle Sutschek equaled a school-best mark in the discus as the Bears finished second to WPI (161 points) in a tri-meet with 115 points, while Springfield was third with 103. Piker, who just last week set a school record with a throw of 121 feet, 1 inch, beat it with a throw of 132-3 to win the event. Sutschek matched Ann Jefferson's 2007 record of 132-3 inches in winning the discus.

Coast Guard's Hannah Seeland won the shot put (36-10.5) and the hammer throw (146-8). Also winning events for the Bears were Monet Masters (pole vault, 10-8), Madison Ahlers (400, 1:01.18) and Jessica Mulroy (3,000 steeplechase, 12:17.60).

• Ashley Curran of Conn College won the 5,000 meters at the UMass-Lowell Invitational with a time of 18:29.87 and teammate Ariana Beers was second at 19:10.24. Conn's Bella Franz was second in the 1,500 (4:42.97).
