Leotie, a 3-year-old bison, checks out her female calf, born May 16, 2012, at the Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield, Ill., May 22, 2012. The female calf marks the first birth of this species at Brookfield Zoo since the early 1970s. Leotie arrived at Brookfield Zoo in 2009 from Wildlife Prairie State Park in Peoria to join the zooís bison herd. The calf has not yet been named.
