Preston school staff to serve meals for local fundraiser

Preston – Teachers and staff at the town’s two public schools will try their hand as waiters and restaurant bus staff Dec. 5 in a fundraiser for a family of three schoolgirls whose father has Lou Gehrig’s disease.

School staff at both the Preston Veterans’ Memorial School and Preston Plains Middle School will volunteer to serve dinners at the Village Pizza restaurant in the Fleming’s Plaza on Route 165 in Preston from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Village Pizza will donate a portion of the profits from both sit-down and take-out meals during that time, and school staff will donate all tips received to the Irvine family, said organizer Gail Smith, database manager and administrative assistant at PVMS.

Smith said at least 10 staff members have volunteered to participate, and a basket raffle fundraiser is being planned for the event as well.
