    Ecologist to discuss impact of offshore wind facilities on birds

    Groton - Peter Paton, professor of natural resources science at the University of Rhode Island, will give a talk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Connecticut’s Avery Point campus titled, “Pre-construction assessment of the potential impacts of offshore wind facilities on birds: the Rhode Island experience.”

    His talk is part of the 2013 Coast Perspectives Lecture Series at Avery Point.

    Paton is a wildlife ecologist whose research focuses on the conservation of vertebrate populations, with an emphasis on birds and amphibians.

    Admission is free. Refreshments are served at 7:10 p.m. The lecture will take place in Room 103 of the Marine Sciences Building. The series is sponsored by the Connecticut Sea Grant College Program, the UConn Department of Marine Sciences and the UConn Maritime Studies Program.
