Hope Week in New London begins Sunday

New London — As part of the 8th annual Hope Week, the community is invited to a series of events that will be held throughout the city, beginning with Neighbor Day at Riverside Park this Sunday.

The goal of Hope Week is to send the message that the school district is united in its effort to help and support youth.

On Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Science & Technology Magnet High School presents its Science, Art and Community Partner's Fair. Students from all grade levels will display their science, art and other classroom projects, and senior project presentations will be made during this time. Community partners will host tables with information on the services they provide and light refreshments will be served. A raffle will also be held during the event with bicycles, computers and gift cards as prizes.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, the chorus from Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School will perform a medley of songs at the Science & Technology Magnet High School.

On Friday, at 6:30 p.m., New London High School students will showcase their talents in the Everybody Dance Talent Show at New London High School.

The Annual Spring Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the New London Public Library. Book donations may be dropped off at the library during regular hours and the book sale continues until May 31.

On Sunday, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., a candlelight vigil will be held on the Parade Plaza in honor of Memorial Day.
