Stonington — Longtime Board of Finance member and current Chairman John O’Brien said Thursday that he will be resigning from the board in December.
The Democrat, who has served 14 years on the board and has been its chairman for the past year, said he plans to spend three months of the winter in Florida and so would be unable to attend board meetings during the beginning of budget season. His six-year term ends in 2017.
Typically, members of the boards from the same party as the resigning member nominate a replacement and the entire board then appoints that person.
