New assistant director of young children and families appointed at LEARN

Old Lyme — The Executive Committee of the LEARN Governing Board has appointed Tina Mannarino to serve as the assistant director of young children and families at LEARN, a regional educational service center.

The position and department recently has been moved into the Student Support Services division at LEARN.

Mannarino, who began on Monday, has served as the supervisor of early childhood education for New Haven Public Schools since 2003. As supervisor, she directed all aspects of the Early Childhood Education program in New Haven.

Mannarino earned her Master of Education & Advanced Certificate in School Psychology from Brooklyn College and then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Connecticut.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Mannarino join our leadership team," Eileen S. Howley, LEARN's executive director, said in a statement. "Her extensive experience with both early childhood education as well as supervising special education provides a unique set of skills and talents for the work in southeastern CT. We are fortunate to have her on staff.”
