Take a Hike: Montville
People all over the country are taking to the trails this weekend for National Trails Day, and Connecticut is hosting its own Connecticut Trails Weekend across the state. The Connecticut Forest and Park Association has listed hundreds of options, from leisurely strolls, to walks through historical sites, to expert level hikes up steep terrain. Camp Oakdale
Meetinghouse Lane, Montville
In addition to athletic fields and tennis courts, Camp Oakdale has four hiking trails through woodlands and wetlands. Mountain bikes are welcome. The park is owned by the Town of Montville. For more information, go to the town's website.
Montville Conservation Center
Chesterfield Road, Montville
The conservation center is located behind Fair Oaks Community Center on Chesterfield Road. The entrance is before the Leonard J. Tyl Middle School. It is a 43-acre preserve with a small pond with a resident beaver, a few bat houses and ample flora and fauna. High school students often use it for running. The center is owned by the Town of Montville.
